Valley Baptist Health System has earned a reputation as a health care leader with our dedicated staff, modern facilities, state-of-the-art technology, and commitment to providing for the health of our community. Today, our not-for-profit health system is one of the largest in South Texas with more than 800 beds.
VBMC-Harlingen is our 600-bed flagship hospital, while VBMC-Brownsville is a 243-bed facility. Each hospital is a Lead Level III Trauma Center and has a drawing area of over 200,000.
As part of the VBHS family, you will have access to integrated entities, such as Golden Palms Retirement & Health Center, Valley Baptist Health Plan, Valley Baptist Health & Fitness Center, Home Health/Hospice, and Advanced Medical Supply.
Teaching opportunities are available and are affiliated with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, which opened a branch called the Regional Academic Health Center in Harlingen. The RAHC houses educational facilities for third and fourth-year medical students and an Internal Medicine residency program. The Valley Baptist Family Practice Residency Program at VBMC-H was established in 1996 to help provide for the primary health care needs of our community.
