Evanston Regional Hospital (ERH) makes its home in Evanston, Wyoming, located in the southwest corner of the state near the Utah border. THE COMMUNITY
Settled in the Bear River Valley in the southwest corner of Wyoming, Evanston is just north of the magnificent Uinta Mountain Range, a northern arm of the Rocky Mountains. The town was founded in 1868 when the Union Pacific Railroad established a work camp. Union Pacific built a roundhouse and a parts and machine shop in Evanston, ensuring the survival of the town after work on the rail line was completed. The State of Wyoming collects no personal income tax, a fact that translates to a significant increase in take-home pay. Evanston offers affordable housing for everyone, making the town an attractive, comfortable and affordable place to live. Perched at an elevation of 6700 feet above sea level, Evanston experiences mild summers (the average temperature in July is 81 degrees Fahrenheit) and cold, snowy winters. EDUCATION
Evanston Public School system is committed to providing the highest quality education for all students by building the skills necessary for a successful and productive future. The community supports four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. Evanston residents also have access to the Lifelong Learning Center, a distance-learning center for the University of Wyoming, Utah State University, Western Wyoming Community College, and the University of Great Falls. The facility offers a diversity of programs and classes. Weber State University is located about an hour away in Ogden, Utah. The University of Utah is located 80 miles away in Salt Lake City.
RECREATION
In addition to the rich historical tradition offered by the community, Evanston also boasts access to more dynamic pastimes. Salt Lake International Airport is approximately 85 miles to the southwest of Evanston.
