Sonora Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is a 152-bed hospital in Sonora, California, that serves 86,600 residents in Calaveras, Tuolumne and portions of Mariposa counties. SRMC's services include a cancer center, emergency services, urgent care, obstetrics, surgery, cardiac catheterization lab, diagnostic imaging, a network of primary and specialty care clinics, a rural health clinic, skilled nursing care, home care and medical equipment.
In 2008, SRMC had 4,863 admissions, 577 deliveries, 26,793 ER visits, 293,672 outpatient visits and 24,571 home care visits. SRMC is staffed by 174 physicians, 1,101 employees and 188 volunteers.
In 2008, SRMC added 15 physicians to the medical staff and recruited 39 nurses. The medical center brought two oncologists into the community and opened radiation oncology services. SRMC also opened Sonora Regional Imaging Center, which includes digital mammography, 64-slice CT and MRI. The medical center offered wellness lectures, provided home and church visits, provided free doctor visits via Project HOPE, and contributed over $17 million in free and low-cost services to the community.
