Smyth County Community Hospital is a 154-bed acute care not-for-profit hospital with a service area exceeding 50,000+. A financially sound facility, we are a member of the Mountain States Health Alliance, Johnson City, TN. With over 45 physicians on active medical staff, SCCH is host to broad base of primary care and subspecialty services.
We also operate the 109-bed Francis Marion Manor nursing facility, Glade Spring Community Clinic, Crossroads Medical Clinic at Rural Retreat, and Rural Retreat Pharmacy.
Our Community Foundation boasts a new state-of-the-art Lifetime Wellness Center, located adjacent to the Hospital campus. The Center is a fully-equipped facility with 54,000 square-feet of exercise space including swimming, rehab and hot pools; full-sized gymnasium, two racquetball courts, steam rooms, aerobics studio and massive free-weight and cardiovascular workout facilities. The Center is staffed by knowledgeable, highly trained fitness professionals.
Nestled in the beautiful lower highlands of western Virginia, Smyth County, population 33,000+, is known for its natural beauty and abundance of outdoor activities. Two of the nations top 100 fly fishing streams are right in "our back door." A walk through a revitalized "Downtown Marion" reveals the newly renovated Lincoln Theatre - an art-deco and Mayan architectural marvel. The Theatre is host to National Public Broadcasting's "Song of the Mountains." Just doors up from the Theatre is the historic, four-diamond General Francis Marion Hotel, host to Capers Restaurant. Meanwhile, minutes away is Chilhowie - known as "Valley of Many Deer" and host to one of the Commonwealth's notible restaurants, The Town House Grill and its premium wine list. Just north of Chilhowie is the community of Saltville, home to pre-historic salt ponds, and several archeological excavations. Known as the "Salt Capital of the Confederacy", Saltville is known for its significant role as a center of munitions during the Civil War.
