AVERA FLANDREAU MEDICAL CLINIC
Established in the medical practice for more than 20 years, the Avera Flandreau Medical Clinic consists of Gary Bruning, DO, Tad Jacobs, DO and Cindy Deutscher, PA-C. The physicians and their physician assistant joined the Avera McKennan primary care network in May 1993. Over the years, the medical staff has been consistently recognized for their patient care, passion for their medical specialty and commitment to providing quality services that coincide with the mission of Avera McKennan.

Adjacent to the Avera Flandreau Medical Clinic, the hospital has 18 beds. Services offered at the hospital are laboratory, radiology, physical therapy, emergency medicine, swing bed, cardiovascular testing, ultrasound, hospice, as well as numerous other services. Physician outreach services include cardiology, pain management, ears nose & throat (ENT), nephrology, limited podiatry, orthopedics, surgery. Also, telemedicine has offered dermatology, wound consultation, obstetrics ultrasound, women’s care, infectious disease, trauma reviews, electronic intensive care (e-ICU), and several others. COMMUNITY
Flandreau is located in eastern South Dakota. Situated just 7 miles east of I-29, Flandreau boasts a thriving main street of businesses. Some examples include farm and ranch supplies, banks, grocery, clothing, hardware, coffee shops, photo shops, pharmacy, equipment and vehicle sales, etc. The economic base of the community is largely agricultural, however a strong connection with the Flandreau Development Corporation has attracted new businesses to the area. The Flandreau Santee Sioux Royal River Casino and Motel has been an excellent addition to the community bringing in area patrons for gaming lodging, meals and entertainment. In 2004, the Flandreau Aquatic Center opened, a $1.3 million dollar project funded solely by the generosity of the local community. The city park is nestled along the Big Sioux River and is a popular place for baseball and softball, camping playground and picnic areas are available. The community website is:
EDUCATION
Flandreau has excellent educational opportunities for the community’s youth. In 2004, a new elementary school was completed. The public school system covers K-12 with one elementary school, one middle school and one high school. Average enrollment of per class averages 50 students. Within 40 minutes of Flandreau, the college and university options are abundant in the communities of Brookings, Madison and Sioux Falls.
