Parkway Regional Hospital

 

Parkway Regional Hospital is a 70-bed, progressive, Joint Commission-accredited, full-service healthcare facility dedicated to providing compassionate, quality care to those in need.

• Health services provided at the facility include acute care, a fully staffed 24-hour Emergency Room, occupational and physical rehabilitation, same day and extended stay surgeries, a JCAHO-accredited laboratory, diagnostic imaging, a fully integrated respiratory department, and an expanding home health program. 
• The hospital also has certification from the American Heart Association as a “Get with the Guidelines” facility.
• The facility is located 40 miles south of Paducah, Kentucky and is within 175 miles of both Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee.

THE COMMUNITY
The twin cities of Fulton, Kentucky and South Fulton, Tennessee are located in the western part of their respective states, with a combined population of 7,500; however, an estimated 22,000 live in the hospital's service area. 

The Twin Cities offer the quality and security of small-town living with easy accessibility to nearby metropolitan centers.

• Much of the area's history and some of its business is still related to the Mississippi River, which borders two counties in the hospital's service area.
• Several industries round out the area's economic base, which consists mostly of manufacturing and agricultural operations.
• Larger industries in nearby cities also provide jobs, increase population and therefore, the number of hospital patients.
• The area enjoys four distinct and beautiful seasons.
• Mild climate with temperatures normally ranging from an average of 33 degrees in the winter to 78 degrees in the summer. Short periods of extreme temperatures are experienced on occasion. Annual precipitation for the area is normally about 45 inches.

RECREATION

• Fishing and hunting at nearby wildlife refuges, golfing, summer youth programs and area sporting events
• Local parks contain tennis courts, baseball diamonds, picnic shelters and playgrounds
• Three country clubs exist in the hospital's immediate service area.
• Within a 50-mile radius of Fulton-South Fulton, one can enjoy community theater, major concerts, camping, rodeos, antique shops and outlet malls.
• Major attractions include Reelfoot Lake, a 2,000-acre wildlife area in Western Tennessee; Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkey and Land Between the Lakes, a 170,000-acre recreational area in Western Kentucky; and Columbus-Belmont State Park, which commemorates a Civil War battle along the Mississippi River just 20 miles from Fulton.

EDUCATION
Parkway Regional's main service area is served by two city and two county school districts with each providing one high school, one junior high and one elementary school. All offer a broad-based curricula with good student-teacher ratios and special emphasis on innovative academics. The area also includes two vocational training centers, a two-year community college and two major universities within a very short driving distance.
