Adventist Medical Center (AMC) is a 302-bed hospital serving 900,000 residents on the east side of the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area on the Oregon-Washington border. AMC is a full-service medical center with major emphases in surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery, internal medicine, emergency services, mental health, obstetrics, orthopaedics, outpatient rehabilitation, home care and hospice. AMC also owns and operates 18 medical clinics.
In 2008, AMC had 11,114 admissions, 1,197 deliveries, 45,787 ER visits, 111,596 outpatient visits and 24,779 home care visits. The medical center is staffed by 505 physicians, 2,070 employees and 310 volunteers.
In 2008, AMC received Professional Research Consultants' 4-Star Hospital Award for overall quality of care, as well as anesthesia, hospitalist and laboratory services. The medical center received the Patient Safety Alliance Award for inpatient medical care and the Silver Performance Achievement Award for the care of stroke patients from the American Heart and American Stroke Associations. AMC installed two new CT imaging systems to provide timely and accurate diagnosis for bariatric, vascular and cardiac imaging procedures. The medical center contributed almost $60 million in free and low-cost services to the community.
