Otolaryngology Practice in Portland, Maine

Position
Well established private practice with an impeccable reputation in partnership with Maine Medical Center is recruiting an Otolaryngologist to join the group of four physicians. You will have a well rounded general practice with opportunities to pursue subspecialty interests. Join a patient centered, collaborative team who over 30 years have continued to strengthen the routine and surgical Ear, Nose and Throat care. The practice recognizing a state and regional unmet need has established in-depth, focused care for patients with tinnitus and balance problems. Early next year the practice will move to a new building with the expansion of the “Balance Center”. This recruitment will enable one of the physicians to focus his practice full time in this area. The practice has two locations, in Portland and part time in Biddeford. Surgeries are done at Maine Medical Center and Southern Maine Medical Center. Your call 1 in 9, and the compensation package is very competitive.

Hospital
Maine Medical Center (MMC) is a 606-bed tertiary care and teaching institution with a multi-state referral base, located in Portland, Maine. It is the largest hospital in northern New England and fills the dual role as: Maine's premier referral hospital, offering services not available elsewhere in the state, and a community hospital serving the greater Portland region. MMC was rated the fourth safest hospital in the U.S. and the nursing staff was recently rated in the top 3% in the world for nursing excellence. It currently supports over 200 residents and fellows in 10 residencies and 7 fellowships approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Each program is the responsibility of a full-time program director and more than 500 highly qualified attending physicians serve as faculty.

The Maine Medical Center for Research focuses on research that has a direct impact on patient care, emphasizing cancer, cardiology, bone and mineral disease. While much of the research is conducted at a facility in nearby Scarborough, clinical departments within the hospital also have research programs.

The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at MMC is a hospital without walls extending to children and families all over the state access to specialized pediatric care with an emphasis on integrated care from well-child to the most advanced procedures.

With a metro population of 230,000, the Greater Portland area (Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Cape Elizabeth, Gorham, Falmouth, and Cumberland) is home to almost one quarter of Maine's total population.
