Center
Nestled in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, Pikeville Medical Center is the region’s leader in the health care industry. Over the past 82 years, PMC has grown into a 261-bed facility with a growing campus, featuring a 50,000 square foot structure. Currently, PMC employees over 1,600 people including 175 physicians. In April of 2008, Pikeville Medical Center was again voted among the “Top 10 Best places to work in Kentucky”. Some of the medical center’s state-of-the-art programs include: inpatient rehabilitation, medical detox, neurosurgery and hyperbarics. The Medical Center was the second hospital in the world to purchase a Stand-Up MRI system and was the second Cancer Center in the United States to purchase the ONCOR Impression Linear Accelerator. Other advancements include two Siemens SOMATOM Sensation 64-slice scanners and IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation therapy). With the technology and experienced staff in place, the future of the Medical Center is stronger than ever. Upcoming additions include a $21 million Research Center with a medical office center and a 900-space parking garage. Also in the plans are a $7.5 million Outpatient Surgery Center and $3.7 million expansion projects for various departments.
