White Memorial Medical Center (WMMC) is a full-service, 354 staffed-bed teaching hospital in Los Angeles. The medical center's key services include heart and vascular care, cancer services, orthopedic care, women's and children's services, rehabilitation and emergency services. WMMC offers medical residencies in family medicine, internal medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics and podiatry, as well as pharmacy and nursing.
In 2007, WMMC had 18,993 admissions, 3,830 deliveries, 39,627 ER visits and 61,129 outpatient visits. WMMC is staffed by 433 physicians, 137 medical residents, 1,504 employees and 200 volunteers.
In 2008, WMMC completed Los Angeles Advanced Imaging, a new outpatient center housing a 3T MRI and PET/64-slice CT, positioning itself as a regional leader in diagnostic imaging. The medical center ranked in the top 10% nationally for overall quality of care in the telemetry unit and emergency department by Professional Research Consultants. WMMC also set a new hospital record for the total number of surgeries performed during the year. WMMC received a $100,000 grant from the Eisner Foundation to support the Cleft Palate Program and contributed almost $50 million in free and low-cost services to the community.
