THE HOSPITAL
The Medical Center of Acadian, located in Eunice, is Multi specialty facility. The Medical Center offers a broad continuum of care - from traditional inpatient hospital care, to specialty services including a 10-bed Emergency department, Support Services, Diagnosit Imaging, and more. The hospital offers the availability of most medical specialties.
THE COMMUNITY
Eunice is a family oriented community located approximately 50 miles northwest of Lafayette, Louisiana and approximately 70 miles west of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The population of St. Landry Parish is approximately 80,000. There are several major industries located in Eunice such as oil & gas, rice mills, pipeline and sandblasting companies. The community is especially known for its Cajun heritage and history with attractions such as The Liberty Theater, Mardi Gras and many other southern Louisiana festivals and traditions.
EDUCATION
The Eunice Public School District consists of 4 Elementary Schools and a Junior and Senior High School. A private Catholic Elementary and High School are also available. Eunice is also privileged with a branch of Louisiana State University (LSU-E). LSU has a variety of course offerings such as an Allied Health Program with an excellent Nursing School and many other business related programs. Additionally, the University of Southeastern Louisiana is located in nearby Lafayette and is easily accessible year round.
RECREATION
Louisiana has been known and referred to as a Sportsman’s’ Paradise and Eunice plays a very crucial role in keeping this reputation. Eunice offers many different recreational and sporting activities such as swimming, golfing and tennis at the Eunice Country Club. There are many nearby lakes and waterways for fishing, water skiing and hunting. Eunice has a special interest in good food and good fun. The Cajun Folklife Festival is an annual event in Eunice. This festival offers a sampling of different types of spicy foods from boiled crawfish to jambalaya and etoufee.
