Located in breathtaking Waukesha County, just west of Milwaukee, surrounded by rolling hillsides and sparkling waterways, Oconomowoc has been aptly dubbed “The City of Lakes.” First settled in the 1880’s, the city today is making a concerted effort to retain the historic charm of its downtown while also attracting lucrative businesses to its outskirts in what has been called “Wisconsin’s largest master-planned development.”

First settled in the 1880’s, the city today is making a concerted effort to retain the historic charm of its downtown while also attracting lucrative businesses to its outskirts in what has been called “Wisconsin’s largest master-planned development.” The area is unquestionably one of the most affluent in the state and continues to attract new residents with its excellent municipal services, much-lauded school system (in 2006, Oconomowoc High School became 1 of only 6 schools in Wisconsin to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate program), quality health care services, safe streets, picturesque locale, and some of the lowest tax rates in the state!

Recreational opportunities are endless and year-round, with hockey, ice fishing, downhill skiing and ice boating in the winter and sailing, hiking, jogging, biking to while away the spring, summer and fall. One of the area’s unique resources is the 21,000-acre Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest but for those who prefer pampering to camping, Oconomowoc’s hotels, spas and shopping are superb.

Boasting an “impossible to surpass” quality of life, Oconomowoc is a marvelous place to live and work.
