Considering living in Illinois?

Illinois is the "Prairie State" and former home to such famous names as Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney, Ulysses S. Grant, and Carl Sandburg.  Many who think of Illinois think of one of the United States' largest cities, Chicago.  Chicago offers over 40 museums, opulent theaters, exquisite dining, endless shopping, the Gold Coast, the Magnificent Mile, and of course, top-ranked professional sports teams.  Beyond the city lights lies outdoor adventure beyond compare...rolling hills with stagecoach trails, towering bluffs, riverboat cruises, Route 66, colonial French settlements, Amish Settlements, Lincoln sites, and scenic waterways.

Our Mission

The mission of our organization is to strengthen Illinois critical access hospitals through collaboration

The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation established in 2003 for the purposes of sharing resources, education, promoting operational efficiencies, and improving health care services for member critical access hospitals and their rural communities. ICAHN with its 50 member hospitals is an independent network governed by a nine member Board of Directors with standing and project development committees facilitating the overall activities of the network. ICAHN continually strives to strengthen the capacity and viability of its members and rural health partners.

Critical Access Recruitment Services (CARS) is the dedicated recruitment service organized for providing physician and mid level recruitment services to the 50 ICAHN member hospitals.  A full time recruiter provides recruitment services solely to the ICAHN members.  The Critical Access Recruitment Service (CARS) has partnered with the Illinois Department of Public Health's Center for Rural Health, the Southern Illinois School of Medicine, RIMSAP (Rural Illinois Medical Assistance Program), and the Illinois Rural Medical Education Development Program (RMED) to help us better connect with potential candidates and provide an easier venue for candidates to visit member hospitals.
