Terrebonne General has a brand new 28-bed Emergency Department that truly must be seen to be believed. The first thing you will notice is the peaceful waiting area with an aquatic theme sporting a larger than life deep-sea mural that covers an entire wall and an "Olympic" sized saltwater aquarium. All of the 28 beds are private, and the rooms are monitored. They can also be closed off from the rest of the Emergency Department. To add to patients’ overall satisfaction, each room is equipped with cable television. The ED sees 32,000 patients annually. The ED is staffed 36 hours daily with 20 hours of MLP coverage daily in the Fast Track.

A fast-track which is part of the main Emergency Department is staffed with Nurse Practitioners as well as a dedicated physician assuring that you will not be bogged down with low acuity patients who can be treated in a clinic. Also, literally across the street is the Cardiac Institute of the South, a world renowned group of cardiologists who are ready for the most severe cardiac patient with just a phone call. All of this makes Terrebonne Parish General Hospital a first rate facility that truly deserves the great reputation it has earned.
