Parkersburg hosts a broad and eclectic group of local employers including General Electric, Dupont,
Ames and Coldwater Creek, which has given rise to a well-educated and cultured community. Metro
area has a population of approximately 60,000.
Accordingly, a number of upscale neighborhoods have
been constructed including a renovated historic district. Homes in these communities range from
approximately $200,000 to over $1 million. Community schools offer similarly diverse educational
opportunities with programs for the gifted as well as the physically challenged. Private and parochial

The city is also the second home to the West Virginia Symphony and
host to the Parkersburg Choral Society and numerous other seasonal cultural projects.
Easy access is
also afforded to excellent outdoor recreation areas such as the Canaan Valley for mountain biking,
hiking, skiing, hunting and fishing. The North Bend Rail Trail is part of the 5,500-mile coast-to-coast
American Discovery Trail. Stretching 72 miles, this scenic trail passes through 13 tunnels and crosses
