We are very excited about our Internal Medicine opportunity that we have with the McFarland Clinic at their regional clinic in Carroll, Iowa (www.mcfarlandclinic.com). McFarland Clinic, located in Ames, is central Iowa's largest physician-owned multi-specialty clinic. A successful integrated medical center, the McFarland Clinic has grown to 157 physicians spanning 37 medical and surgical specialties. The clinic is 100% owned by physicians and is governed by physicians who are involved in every aspect of decision making, both clinical and non-clinical. We serve a patient population base of 250,000 residents via a 14-community network throughout central and north central Iowa. We like to say small town and "big medicine". We have very little managed care and are growing due to our overwhelming success and physician lead management.
There is an excellent referral base as Medical Associates of Carroll, PC was already an established and busy practice when its partners joined the McFarland Clinic in 1998. Between two locations in Carroll the group is comprised of eight family practice physicians, two internists, two general surgeons, two adult medicine physicians and one podiatrist. In addition, the Carroll physicians receive local support form McFarland Clinic specialists.
Saint Anthony Regional Hospital is a well equipped 99 bed facility with a connected 79 bed nursing home, both of which are accredited by JCAHO. It has a service area population of 35.000. Other specialties represented on the 31 member medical staff include pathology, radiology, anesthesiology, urology, radiation oncology, psychiatry, cardiology, ophthalmology, obstetrics/gynecology, and otolaryngology.
