Our hospital, Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center is located in Citrus County, in Crystal River, Florida. Crystal River feeds directly into the Gulf of Mexico giving us the reputation of the area that the manatees swim and play. Four of the seven rivers in the county are spring-fed, hence the name of the hospital. We are one of two hospitals in Citrus County caring for a population of 140,000 people
.
The average age in our county is 50years – ranking our county as the second oldest county in Florida. This results in a significant amount of primary care need and related specialty care.
The hospital would assist with a first year collections guarantee.
And our area is experiencing population growth and economic growth due to the expansion of our largest employer – Progress Energy.
Progress Energy operates an energy plant (coal & nuclear) in Crystal River, Fl. They are upgrading the current plant which will require the influx of 300-700 additional skilled workers beginning later this year. Likewise, Progress Energy has announced the expansion of a second power plant in our adjacent northern county, just 9 miles north of the hospital. Our interstate system is pursuing land purchases within our county to complete the extension of the Suncoast Parkway in Citrus County, terminating just 2 miles north of the hospital.
Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center was featured in the March 2008 Exec Digital Magazine for our quality and outcomes achievements.
