The Spine and Neuro Center Seeks a BC/BE PMR Physician!
This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of a 35-year-old, growing Spine and Neurosurgery private practice established in 1964, joining five neurosurgeons. Two of the physicians have been practicing in the community for fifteen plus years, another has been with the practice since 1998 and the newest partners are in their fourth year with the group. The Spine and Neurosurgery Center is the only group of Neurosurgeons in the area. All physicians are currently on a four-day work week. There are two clinical days and two OR days designated, with Friday serving as an optional day for the physician to take off. They are currently seeing 55 to 75 patients in clinic a day and together performed over 1500 cases last year (all case counts exclude any myelograms, halo placements, epidural steroid injections, and ICP/ventriculostomies). The practice employs physician assistants to serve as physician extenders for the partners. The case mix for the practice is 75% spine and 25% cranial with a full compliment of both spine and cranial cases provided by the surgeons. There are three designated operating rooms at the hospital that flip between two neurosurgeons with mobile equipment for each room. Each neurosurgeon has a designated neuro-team for surgery. The group has just moved into a new medical tower this past November. The surgeons are the principal owners of the 124,500 sq. ft. state-of-the-art medical facility, which includes a pedestrian bridge to Huntsville Hospital on the second floor, a five and a half story attached parking deck and an outpatient surgery center. The practice is located on the first floor of the medical office building and can accommodate five surgeons working on any given day. Each surgeon, when working a clinic day, will have their own pod which includes at least six exam rooms. The clinic space accommodates up to three physiatrists and the physical therapy clinic is approximately 4,000 sq. ft. The outpatient surgery center is housed on the second floor of the building, directly above the neurosurgeon’s clinic and the surgery space has a convenient rear entry for surgeons. The outpatient surgery center consists of four operating rooms and two procedure rooms with recovery and 23-hour overnight stay beds. The building also includes a back entry, designated underground physician only parking area in the garage. All partners are currently owners of a successful outpatient MRI center that is local and is 98% physician owned. The incoming candidate will have an opportunity to by in to the center after becoming a partner. Partnership for the group is set at 36 months; however, comprehensive review will occur after 24 months. The group is currently involved in multiple research studies with most of the leading device manufacturers and many pharmaceutical companies. The practice employs a research coordinator and is a top tier study site for Synthes, Kyphon, and Globus Medical. The group is currently averaging two to three concurrent studies and also participates in IED studies for device approval. The call schedule for this group will be one in six and partners have the opportunity to tailor their off days to follow their call. The trauma call for this group averages seven to ten calls per shift. There are currently four trauma surgeons and designated hospitalists. The incoming candidate will have no problem coming in and establishing a practice. Currently the wait time for new patients is between two and three weeks; however, patients with brain tumors, compression fractures, or acute disc herniations are provided an appointment on the next clinic day following the referral. More than 600 physicians make up the referral base for this established practice.
