Tarboro is a "front porch kind of town" that maintains the relaxed ambience of the Old South.  Located just one hour from Research Triangle Park and two hours from the North Carolina beaches, residents of this area have easy access to a wide variety of activities.

Incorporated in 1760, Tarboro is one of the oldest towns in the United States. The town still has its original Town Common, a 15-acre park canopied by tall oaks that marks the threshold to our 45-block Historic District and renovated Downtown, all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Heritage Hospital is a modern 127-bed JCAHO accredited full service acute care facility. Heritage Hospital is part of University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina including Pitt County Memorial Hospital, a 861 tertiary and teaching facility, and  and East Carolina University's Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC.
