St. Vincent’s St. Clair is currently seeking a Family Practice candidate for a hospital based practice.  The hospital is located in Pell City, Alabama approximately 40 minutes from downtown Birmingham and 90 minutes for Atlanta along 1-20. 

Candidate will be an employee of St. Vincent’s Health System with employment and benefits package through the first year. Fringe benefits are available including BCBS health insurance, dental insurance, short-term medical leave, long-term disability, three tiered retirement plan (non-contributory defined benefit plan, 403b, and match program), paid vacation, paid CME allowance (includes travel, registration fees, meals, journals, and professional association dues), paid licenses and permits (state medical license, state drug license, DEA, and local business permits), deferred compensation plan, professional liability insurance and relocation. Interview expenses for potential candidates are paid and a relocation package is negotiable.

The hospital is located in Pell City, Alabama.  They are in St. Clair County which is a designated Federal Medically Underserved Area (MUA) with a rating of 42:1.  The US Government sets the cutoff rating for MUA’s at 64 or less.  Pell City’s Current population is estimated at 11, 894 in 20206 with a 24% increase in population since 2000.

St. Vincent’s St. Clair is located close to Logan Martin Lake and has traditionally been considered to be a lake retirement community.  Recent years however, have brought the emergence of Honda Automotive manufacturing in Lincoln nearby.  Associated and non-associated light manufacturing industry has fueled significant growth to the local population.  The average age while still above the Alabama average age at 38, is dropping due to influx of younger families to the county due to the economic growth locally.  Forecasts are for continued economic expansion equal to or exceeding the last seven year her with plans for a new hospital and medical complex to be completed by 2011.
