Harrington Hospital, a non-profit institution, founded in 1931, is a 113-bed acute care hospital serving South Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut - known as The Last Green Valley. We offer a small-town setting, excellent schools, and close proximity to the coast and mountains of New England, plus less than an hour to urban cultural activities and amenities in Boston, Hartford, Providence, Worcester and Springfield.
Harrington has a complete range of inpatient medical services (i.e., medical, surgical, ICU/CCU, psychiatric, pediatrics, OB/GYN beds and a two campus emergency medicine department) and a wide range of outpatient services including mental health, substance abuse, occupational medicine, and other programs. Our DI department boasts the latest technology, like a 1.5 in-house MRI, 64 slice CT and digital mammography. Radiology services are obtained via an arrangement with Beth Israel Deaconess Health Center and are provided by Harvard Medical Faculty Group radiologists on site.
We are currently nearing completion of a major renovation and expansion program of the main lobby/admitting and two medical/surgical floors. The Women’s Health Center opened July 2009 as did Radiation Therapy Services at the Central Massachusetts Cancer Center, the first facility of its kind between Springfield and Worcester. The center features the latest technologies and treatments, such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), which focuses the radiation treatment on the tumor and helps spare normal tissue. A joint venture between Harrington Hospital and 21st Century Oncology, Inc., the first floor offers radiation and other treatments, and the second floor, opening later in the year, will offer infusion services, counseling, and other oncology services including breast reconstruction surgery.
From its beginning, Harrington Hospital has been serving and has been sustained by the local community. As a community hospital, now in the midst of a major expansion, we seek great doctors who are patient-centered and community-oriented.
