Office-only internal medicine practice - no hospital inpatient work or call

South Haven Community Hospital is seeking two additional Internal Medicine physicians for an office-only, Mon-Fri practice.  No hospital inpatient work or call.  We recently went to a pure hospitalist program - our IM's selected their desired area of service.  We now need at least one and likely two IM's for the office practice.  The office currently contains one full-time IM, one part-time IM who also serves as Medical Director of a busy Cardio & Pulmonary Rehab program, and one full-time PA-C.

South Haven is located right on southern Lake Michigan about a half hour west of Kalamazoo, MI.  It is two hours to downtown Chicago around the lake.  Life along the lakeshore is certainly unique and enjoyable!

This is a hospital-employed position, as are virtually all physicians in South Haven, so a full benefit program comes along with a competitive salary and traditional 'perq's'

Population of the city and surrounding townships is about 20,000 with a total about 35,000 in our service area.

The hospital has brought on six physicians so far in 2009 - 2 Family Physicians, a Hospitalist, an IM for the office, a General Surgeon, and a Psychiatrist - so we are in a growth mode.  The hospital opened a brand-new state-of-the-art $8+ million Wellness & Rehab Center on campus about a year and a half ago.  In addition to all medically-based rehab the Center also provides a health club for the community & hospital employees - membership currently over 2,200.

Thanks for your consideration!

South Haven Community Hospital has been serving the health care and medical needs of area residents since 1907. Initially organized as a City Hospital, the facility was reorganized as an Authority Hospital in the 1960's, designated to serve the Cities of South Haven and Bangor, and the surrounding Townships of Arlington, Bangor, Casco, Columbia, Covert, Geneva, and South Haven. Each of these political subdivisions appoints a representative to our Board of Trustees, and these nine Trustees then select up to seven members at large, which comprises the governing Board for the Hospital.

Sun & sand – go for a Swim!
Located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Black River, South Haven has plenty of sparkling water and sandy beaches to go around. The town offers a wide variety of activities year around, but summer time is when it really shines (literally). Beach fun, fishing, golfing, or shopping South Haven has it all, including a deep water harbor.

A harbor that has a rich maritime history. But we aren't a "single-faceted town," South Haven has agricultural roots too. So, whether you want to see tall ships or pick your own blueberries, our town is a must see on any vacation "to do list." Vistors quickly see why South Haven has been called "a gem among small American towns." Getting here is easy, the South Haven area is convenient to Chicago and Detroit off major freeways.
