Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery

The Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible (qualified to sit for the examination for certification) otolaryngologists – head and neck surgeons to join our growing faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the areas of head and neck surgery, neurotology, and general otolaryngology / sleep medicine. The department provides care for both adult and pediatric populations. Faculty physicians are also responsible for engaging in educational and research activities as components of their assignment with opportunities at both city and suburban (outreach programs) offices. One will plan and participate in resident and medical student educational activities, both in didactic form and in the clinic and operating room.

These opportunities offer a competitive academic salary commensurate with experience and achievement. Temple University School of Medicine (TUSM)

TUSM takes pride in the excellence of its teaching, service and research programs. It remains fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. It employs 453 full time faculty, 67 part time faculty, 1,164 volunteer faculty, and 869 staff. Each year it admits 180 medical students and approximately 24 graduate students. Reflecting the excellent quality of a Temple medical education, its MD graduates are highly regarded by competitive residency training programs, and have made significant career contributions to both medical practice and medical research. Temple University Physicians (TUP)

Temple University Physicians (TUP) is the faculty practice organization of TUSM. The practice plan has approximately 375 clinicians who provide clinical care across a broad range of specialties and subspecialties. TUP physicians, representing 17 clinical departments, see patients at 40 sites (combined resident and private practice clinics) the majority of which are located on campus. TUP physicians practice in a very challenging financial environment. In Pennsylvania, Medicaid reimburses only 40 percent of costs; Medicare and commercial payors reimburse approximately two thirds of costs.

Temple University Hospital (TUH)

The flagship hospital, Temple University Hospital (TUH), is a 554-bed tertiary and quaternary level acute care hospital just adjacent to the School of Medicine. TUH is a high volume urban center, with over 150,000 outpatient visits yearly, over 28,000 admissions, and over 2700 births. A Level I Trauma Center, TUH has one of the busiest emergency departments in the region (60,000 visits). The hospital provides patients with ready access to an exceptional group of physicians in every specialty and primary care field. These doctors include the nationally recognized faculty of the TUSM, who are supported by the advanced resources of its major teaching hospital.
