Chowan Hospital in Edenton, NC, in conjunction with The Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) Department of Surgery at East Carolina University is seeking a full-time BE/BC General Surgeon to join two other surgeons. The practice is owned and operated by the hospital, but the physician will be employed by BSOM. Academic rank and salary will be dependent on training and experience. Additional training or certification in minimally invasive surgery is highly desirable.
Highlights of the opportunity include: 1:4 first call (when program fully staffed), malpractice with tail, loan repayment, incentive/productivity plan, relocation package, and full benefits. The practice is located in historic Edenton, along the Atlantic Coast Intracoastal Waterway. This practice also provides outpatient services at Bertie Memorial Hospital in Windsor. Coverage is rotated among the group.
Surgical services at Chowan Hospital include intensive care, a surgical center, a new emergency department, an expanded labor and delivery suite and bone density screening.
Chowan Hospital is a part of University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, a regional health system serving 29 counties and 1.3 million people in eastern NC. The system is anchored by Pitt County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) in Greenville, NC. PCMH, the teaching hospital for the BSOM, provides a full range of tertiary services for the entire region and is designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center.
