Fairmont Medical Center continues to expand services for patients and seeks an Internal Medicine physician to join our 42-physician group, the only multi-specialty group in the area and the primary care referral base for a patient population of 50,000. Call is 1:4.
The group is currently comprised of Family Physicians, Internists, General Surgeons, OB/GYN specialists, Psychiatrists, Radiologists, Anesthesiologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, Otolaryngologist, Ophthalmologist, and Podiatrist. Five NP/PA’s are also on staff. Several outreach specialists from Mayo Clinic offer outreach services in the areas of Cardiology (including echocardiography services), Pediatric Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Allergy, Neurology, Oncology, Otolaryngology, and Psychiatry. Patients have access to a wide range of services close to home and the security of facilitated access to the specialty and tertiary services of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Fairmont Medical Center—Mayo Health System: Fairmont Clinic and Fairmont Community Hospital have united to become Fairmont Medical Center (FMC), a Mayo Health System facility. FMC includes a comprehensive 60,000 square foot clinic and 180,000 square foot hospital with attached nursing home. Together all three form an integrated healthcare campus. The Clinic and Hospital recently completed a 20 million dollar combined expansion and renovation. The expansion offers more space for patient care, offices and ancillary support. The facility is equipped with modern medical amenities including comprehensive laboratory services, x-ray services, mammography and ultrasound.
Fairmont Medical Clinic was formed in 1971 with a staff of 7 physicians. The practice joined with Mayo Health System in 1994 and now employs 42 physicians and more than 150 allied healthcare professionals. Allied staff includes nurse practitioners, physician assistants, audiologist, and a dietician. Fairmont Clinic, a comprehensive primary and secondary care clinic offers a full range of family care as well as more specialized healthcare services. A dedicated team of primary and secondary care physicians, visiting specialists and allied health staff care for approximately 60,000 patients each year in our offices. Additional satellite clinic facilities are located in the towns of Sherburn and Truman, Minnesota, and Armstrong, Iowa.
Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, Fairmont Medical Center has been the hospital of choice for the 60,000 people in and around Martin County, Minnesota, and Kossuth and Emmet counties in Iowa since 1971. Fairmont Community Hospital became part of Mayo Health System in 2001. It is a full-service, acute-care hospital with 57 licensed hospital beds (30 private, 27 semiprivate), 5 ICU/CCU beds, 2,405 inpatient admissions, 46,345 outpatient visits, and 490 employees. A 40-bed nursing home facility is also attached to the medical complex. The hospital has state-of-the-art OR Suites (4 + 2 minor procedure rooms; 14 rooms in same-day surgery for outpatient procedures; block scheduling) and medical equipment, with a special emphasis on surgical excellence. Other hospital equipment includes laparoscopic equipment, MRI and mobile lithotripsy, in-house CT scanner, Nuclear Medicine, fluoroscopy and 12-chair Dialysis Unit staffed by Mayo Clinic Nephrologists. ER coverage is provided by 4 full-time ER physicians, part of FMC’s 24/7 coverage.
Continuing medical education is offered to our physicians and allied healthcare professionals through Mayo Clinic-sponsored educational programs, free of charge. Mayo Clinic physicians and administrative staff also offer on-site presentations and consultation.
