L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital is a 72-bed facility, offering a full range of services, including physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, ICU, CT, mammography, laparoscopic surgery, laboratory services, radiology, respiratory care, obstetrics, home health, outpatient surgery and a 13-bed geropsychiatric unit. L.V. Stabler is committed to providing the highest quality of health care possible to the residents of Butler and surrounding counties. The hospital has approximately 190 employees and a medical staff of 19 active, with nearly 60 consulting/courtesy staff physicians. There are two medical office buildings on campus.
THE COMMUNITY
Greenville is located in Butler County, a warm and friendly community in south central Alabama. Butler County has a population of 22,000 and a labor force of more than 11,500. Montgomery, the state capital, is only a 45-minute drive from Greenville. Butler County offers some of the finest business and industrial opportunities with Alabama International Paper, WestPoint Stevens, Breed Technologies and TRIMs Unlimited - just some of the companies that have found an industrial home here.
RECREATION
Greenville offers many recreational activities. Shopping, a public library system, golf, baseball, tennis, softball, basketball and a variety of indoor sports are available. Butler County offers familiarity that comes with life in a small town, plus a location that enables you to visit the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches. For those involved in golf, Cambrian Ridge, a beautiful 36-hole Robert Trent Jones championship golf course, is available at Sherling Lake Park and Recreation Area. The beauty of Butler County's countryside plays host to abundant whitetail deer, turkey and dove, creating a haven for hunters from all over the southeast.
EDUCATION
There are several good school systems within the Butler County area. Both public and private schools are available with broad-based curricula. There are also a number of colleges and universities within a 50-mile radius. They include Auburn University at Montgomery, Alabama State University, Troy State University and Huntington College. Junior colleges and technical schools are also widely available. Lurleen B. Wallace State Junior College in Greenville and George C. Wallace in Selma offer associate degree programs. Other colleges in the area are Ed E. Reid State Technical, John Patterson Technical and Trenholm State Technical.
