In the state of Pennsylvania, MHM is the mental health service provider to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and Philadelphia Prison System. We are seeking a Full Time Psychiatrist to join our team at State Correctional Institution Huntingdon located in Huntingdon County. If you are not interested in a Full Time commitment, MHM is also hiring for Internal Locums opportunities.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provide comprehensive on site psychiatric services to an adult male inmate / patient population at State Correctional Institution Huntingdon. The Psychiatrist will work as part of a strong mental health treatment team to potentially include: Psychiatrist(s), Masters Level Social Workers, Psychologists & Nursing. Overview of responsibilities: Outpatient Psychiatric Care, Evaluations, Medication Monitoring, Treatment Planning, Shared On Call – primarily telephonic. * 1:100 adults in the U.S. is incarcerated.
* Of these, approximately 16% suffer from a serious mental disorder
* Additionally, in 2005, 56% of state prisoners and 64% of local jail inmates reported symptoms of a mental disorder
REQUIREMENTS:
* Valid unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license (MD or DO)
* Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
* All qualified candidates will be required to submit to a thorough security clearance as required by the institution of employment.
