Physicians Assistant for Family Practice at Ft Sill, OK


Duties: The Physicians Assistant at Reynolds Army Community Hospital, Fort Sill, Oklahoma ,primarily in an outpatient facility such as Family Practice Clinic, Troop Medical Clinic (TMC), Regional Confinement Facility, or Physical Exam Section, as scheduled by the Chief, Department of Primary Care and Community Medicine (DPCCM), or counterpart; however, this contract covers usage of the PA in all environments where they are normally employed and could include Tactical Unit Aid Stations.  The Physician Assistants shall perform and provide medical examination and treatment as required by the MTF, Chief, Department of Primary Care and Community Medicine (DPCCM), or Counterpart.  The contractor shall perform the services, which a military physician assistant with similar training and experience would normally be called upon to perform while in a similar duty assignment.  The contractor shall be responsible for a regularly appointed clinic, provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur andhave the capability to:
Collect and record, in proper format, medical and social historical data appropriate to the patient's condition.
  Perform a general physical examination.  Record the findings in proper format and determine medical qualification for various purposes.
  Select the most appropriate diagnosis and treat in cases of uncomplicated common illnesses and injuries (refer when  necessary).Recognize those more complicated cases, initiate treatment (if appropriate), and refer to a higher level of medical expertise for diagnosis and/or treatment.
Plan and initiate proper treatment within the PA's defined privileges and the scope of practice of the facility. Identify and report those situations and individual cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures. Clearly communicate to other health personnel either orally or in writing the findings, diagnosis, and planned treatment regimen. Stabilize and manage a patient in a medical or surgical emergency and/or transfer to physician care.
Determine appropriate means of evacuation of emergency patients, prepare patients for evacuation, and arrange for evacuation support. Perform the following blocks:  Digital, Local Infiltration, and Intercostal, Emergency procedures,Orthopedic procedures,Podiatry procedures,Instruct patient in prevention,General surgical procedures,Urological procedures,Maintain medical records in accordance with MTF procedures.
 
QUALIFICATIONS.    
Be a graduate physician assistant qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under supervision of a physician. Be a graduate of a PA educational program accredited by the Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) on behalf of the American Medical Association.  Have and maintain certification as a physician assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).  Have and maintain certification in basic life support (BLS). 
HOURS: Routine clinic hours are 0730 to 1630  40 hours per week
SALARY:$95,485.07
BENEFITS:  CME : Up to $1,000.00 by reimbursement, Paid Time Off - 10 vacation days and 10 sick days
and vision through Aetna provided at no charge for employee only. Coverage also includes term life insurance policy valued at $25,000.00.  (Spouse/family insurance coverage is available.); Malpractice Insurance is provided at no charge through the government; 401K Plan - Eligible to enroll after 1 year of employment. Employer contribution will begin immediately and will be $1.00 per $1.00 up to 4% of the employee's base salary
