Methodist Children’s Hospital, the only hospital in San Antonio designed and built especially for children, is a 170-bed acute care facility that opened in 1998. This premier children’s facility offers a 24-hour pediatric emergency room, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, pediatric operating suites and special outpatient clinics for children with complex illnesses.
The Intensive Care Services at Methodist Children’s Hospital provides a 17-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with specially trained pediatric intensive care nurses and board-certified pediatric intensivists on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Methodist Children’s Hospital features the region’s only blood and marrow stem cell transplant program offering hope for children with leukemia, sickle cell anemia and immunodeficiency syndromes such as SCIDS.
Methodist Children’s Heart Institute featuring a multidisciplinary team including experienced board-certified pediatric cardiologists dedicated to complex congenital cardiac and thoracic diseases and a Pediatric Outpatient Clinic that holds over fifteen specialty clinics including brain tumor, asthma and craniofacial/ cleft lip and palate.
Being situated adjacent to Methodist Hospital, PACS digital imaging system is used throughout Methodist Children’s Hospital.
