The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center ranks among the top academic medical centers in the world.
Faculty and residents provide care to more than 97,000 hospitalized patients and oversee 1.7 million outpatient visits a year. The physician faculty at UT Southwestern offers care at UT Southwestern's University Hospitals; Parkland Health & Hospital System; a 983-bed facility; Children’s Medical Center Dallas, a 411-bed facility with more than 50 pediatric specialty programs; and VA North Texas Health Care System.
The medical center has three degree-granting institutions: UT Southwestern Medical School, UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and UT Southwestern School of Health Professions. Nearly 4,200 students are trained each year in graduate and allied health programs, as residents and post doctoral fellows. Funding from the NIH, foundations, individuals and corporations provide more than $360 million annually for over 3,500 research projects.
Our faculty is comprised of many distinguished members, including: Active Nobel Prize winners, 17 members of the National Academy of Sciences; and 20 members of the Institute of Medicine.
