MEDICAL DIRECTOR POSITION WITH ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES
You are invited to join a team-oriented medical staff providing care for those who have served. VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) is comprised of three medical centers and six outpatient clinics.
VABHS serves as a national Research and Development center for medical research and is a major tertiary care center for the VA New England Healthcare System. Academic affiliations include Harvard Medical School, Boston University School of Medicine, University of Massachusetts Medical School and Tufts University School of Medicine. As a teaching facility, the VA Boston Healthcare System provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research, offering specialized training to over 1,100 Residents and fellows, 250 medical students, and 400 students in various other areas of clinical practice including psychology, optometry, pharmacy, etc. Additionally, VABHS has affiliations with 7 major medical facilities in the greater Boston area.
You must be BC in Internal Medicine and hold an unrestricted US license (does not need to be a Massachusetts license).
This is a primary care leadership position. The clinic is a multispecialty, academic practice that provides patient services and referral within VA Boston for Primary Care, Optometry, Cardiology, Mental Health, Neurology, Podiatry, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Geriatrics, Lab Services, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Rehab Medicine, Nutrition Counseling, Preventive Health Services, EKG and Pharmacy. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring excellent, high quality care is provided to our Veteran population. Responsibilities include: oversight of practice management, operational issues and clinical performance. The VA is focused on quality and performance working within a model of continuous quality improvement to improve practice issues, clinical care and clinical outcomes. In addition, the Director will manage a panel of primary care patients and assist with oversight of onsite medical student and resident education.
