The American Society for Bariatric Surgeons’ “Bariatric Center of Excellence” designation, along with the Healthgrades’ “Bariatric Five-Star” and Blue Cross/Blue Shield’s “Blue Distinction in Bariatrics” designations have made Memorial’s Bariatric Surgery Center the most successful weight-loss surgery center in Northeast Florida. The Bariatric designations are only given to hospitals that produce favorable outcomes above and beyond other facilities. Memorial is the only hospital in the entire region to attain such national recognition.
The Neuroscience Center provides exceptional neurosurgical technologies, as well as a unique, dedicated physician-based Spine Clinic. The Center specializes in the areas of treating diseases of the brain and nervous system, utilizing the latest in advances in technology and surgical techniques.
The CyberKnife Cancer Center operates the only non-invasive, frameless cancer radiosurgery available in Jacksonville. It can treat tumors anywhere in the body. Image guidance and computer-controlled robotics combine to continuously track, detect and correct for tumor and patient movements throughout the treatment, with sub-millimeter accuracy. Because of its extreme precision and accuracy, no head or body frame is required.
Memorial Health has expanded its network of cancer diagnostic and treatment services. The Southside Cancer Center, located at 5742 Booth Road in Jacksonville, is now a joint venture between Memorial Hospital and the Florida Radiation Oncology Group (FROG).
Four new Olympus flat-panel, voice-activated operating rooms, which allow physicians to correspond with peers via live satellite. Two renovated cath labs, with an additional two brand-new cath labs due for construction later this year. A new EP (Electro Physiology) lab is also planned that will bring the hospital’s total to five caths labs and two EP labs. Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR), which verifies each medication dosage given to the appropriate patient through the use of bar code technology. These technologies significantly reduce errors, improve accuracy and increase patient safety.
