The Community

There are two great reasons to choose San Angelo: the medical community and the larger community of San Angelo and West Texas.  San Angelo is a 103,000 metro population city in West-central Texas.  It is approximately 130 miles from Midland-Odessa and 90 miles from Abilene.  Three lakes frame the city to the west and beautiful rivers course through the town.  Many people note that San Angelo enjoys the best of both worlds-it is large enough to have all the amenities you expect and more in a city, and it is small enough to be a great place to raise a family.  San Angelo does not have all the stress and trouble usually associated with a larger city; commutes are short; the crime rate is low; and the people are friendly.

Fort Concho National Historic Lankmark is the best-preserved Indian Wars fort in the nation.  A nationally famous art museum, a city orchestra and chorale, the oldest civic theatre in Texas, a civic ballet company, historic Concho Street and the world's most diverse collection of water lilies are just some of the many cultural amenities that will enrich the lives of you and your family

Boasting a . Hunting and fishing opportunities attract people from around the nation.

San Angelo also is a center for education. is the nation’s premier training facility for cryptologic and general intelligence career fields for all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and allied countries. Approximately 10,000 military students are stationed at Goodfellow during a year; there are approximately 2,500 permanent duty personnel.

San Angelo’s housing costs and are below national averages. Major employers include the two regional medical centers, the world’s largest manufacturer of surgical sutures, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, SITEL, Inc. and Verizon.
