An excellent opportunity is available for a general surgeon looking to join a growing group in a busy, central location in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The position offers an opportunity to do surgery at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, a 700-bed teaching facility with a busy Level 1 Emergency Department. General Surgery residents finishing in 2010 are encouraged to apply.
The practice, in existence since 1981, is seeking a third physician who will do breast, endocrine, GI (including colon), advanced laparoscopies including anti-reflux, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and abdominal wall reconstructions. Patients can be seen in the hospital on consult. Surgeons take emergency consults (when on call), and are involved in teaching. This is one of the busiest surgical practices in the area. The office is located in a six story medical office building on campus.
Qualifications include board certification or board eligibility, and advanced laparoscopic skills. The practice does not do bariatric surgery or trauma.
The two physicians currently in the practice are both board certified and fellows of the American Board of Surgery. One physician is on the surgery teaching faculty for Phoenix Integrated Surgery Residency and the clinical faculty for the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and is involved in research with Translational Genomic Research Institute (TGEN) regarding genetic breast cancer.
