For 2010, Hillside and Crockett Hospitals are teaming up to recruit a regional general surgeon to the area. Hillside is in Pulaski and Crockett is an easy 21.4 miles to the west in Lawrenceburg. There are currently two surgeons covering this area with a patient population of 75,000+and determined community need of more than 5.
The physician will have a home office in one community where he/she will practice three days/week. An itinerant space will be leased in the other community the other two days of the week.
Emergency call coverage will be shared with the existing surgeon in each community simultaneously
(15 days/month). If there is a call at one hospital and get a call from the other, it is the second hospital’s obligation to ship the patient to you or out. It likely will not be a major issue, but that is what the standard procedure will be. Each hospital has an existing surgeon that will take the other 15 days.
Existing Medical Staff By-Laws stipulate that all staff physicians must be Board certified in their respective specialties. The one exception to this requirement allows for the recruitment of a non-Boarded physician so long as they are Board eligible and are within five years of their most recent formal training. The successful candidate will not only have completed the requisite training, but must also demonstrate a willingness to become actively integrated into the community.
As a part of the LifePoint family of hospitals, Hillside Hospital will provide our newly-recruited physicians with a highly competitive financial package. Using data from current MGMA reports as well as additional marketplace indicators, we provide financial incentives that will insure fiscal stability during the first twelve months of the developing practice. This employed position will enjoy no risk to his salary in the first year, as well as financial assistance including relocation (paid on a “claims made” basis). As signing incentives, we also offer a sign-on bonus, student loan repayment, and an education stipend.
