Fort Carson is the home of the Air Force Academy and the US Olympic training center and is located about 8 miles south of Colorado Springs, a city of about 375,000.
Tucked in at the foot of Pikes Peak Colorado Springs is host to almost 6 million visitors per year and has recently been enjoying national recognition for its quality of life and abundant opportunities. In their August 2006 issue, Money Magazine rated Colorado Springs as “the Best Big City in the nation to live and work”. MSN.RealEstate has also reported that Colorado Springs was number 10 in the Top 10 Value Cities for retirees in a study conducted by author and expert Warren Bland.
