25 Bed Acute Care Hospital seeking 4th Hospitalist
We are expanding our hospitalist coverage and looking for the right physician to join our team sometime in 2010.
We are open to all physicians including J and H visa holders. Spanish is a big plus in our community, but it is not an absolute requirement.
Shifts will be evenly distributed among the physician group, some nights and weekends will be rotated as planned when the group is assembled.
Contact us now for immediate consideration. Our hospital has a 4 bed ICU, the hospitalists will cover the ICU and MOST other hospital admits (except pediatrics and obstetrics). Hospitalists may also provide medical work up on surgical patients in consult with area surgeons.

Sunnyside Community Hospital is located in the Wine Country of Central Washington State. If you love the out of doors, you will love living anywhere within 30 minutes of our hospital. You can enjoy 300 days a year of sunny weather. Our average temperature in the summer is in the 80's and 90's. The hospital has five owned and operated primary care clinics. Four of those clinics currently function as government designated rural health clinics. Sunnyside Pediatrics is scheduled to become a rural health clinic soon.
The hospital has recently completed a $3 million upgrade to Emergency Department facilities. Community support through our Foundation fundraising built the new department. The hospital is supported and appreciated throughout the area known as the Lower Yakima Valley.
While operating only 25 inpatient beds (government requirement to be a Critical Access Hospital), the hospital offers complete care in obstetrics, surgery, medical surgical, intensive care and emergency and trauma care. Sunnyside is a state designated level four trauma center. Emergency patients are normally transported to Seattle if their needs cannot be met at the Sunnyside hospital.
The hospital also has up to date technology and staff in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. This includes a new helical C.T. scan, mobile MRI services, FDA certified mammography, ultrasound and imaging rooms. A bone density service to help physicians identify patients at risk for osteoporosis. Nuclear medicine services are current, and the hospital has 24/7 Internal Medicine coverage through hospital-based internists and clinic internists providing additional call coverage.
We serve 40,000 people in an agricultural area between Yakima, Washington and Tri-Cities, Washington. Sunnyside Community Hospital offers 24 hour emergency care to the community and has a diverse and talented Medical Staff of nearly 30 physicians.
Sunnyside, Grandview and the rest of the Lower Yakima Valley is a culturally diverse region. Sunnyside, at 15,000 people, is the second largest city in Yakima County. Sunnyside is a retail hub for the Valley area. Major employers include a Walmart Distribution Center,as well as significant food processing facilities, wineries and other tourism. The dairy industry is a significant local employer.
Sunnyside High SchooL is a 3A High School. Sunnyside Christian High School is a private non-denominational religious sponsored high school also located in our community. Both schools offer excellent educational opportunities for their students. The schools also work together on some extra curricular activities. Sunnyside High School is noted for excellence in debate, the Washington State Science Fair, DECA and other educational competitions.
Moderate housing prices are a great community find. You can find or build a dream house for $300,000. Rental properties can be a little harder to find, and new physicians often spend some time searching for a rental to ease into relocation. (The Physician Services Department helps physicians/spouses/significant other(s) throughout the recruitment process.)
