The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS) … provides quality, compassionate, and safe health care to veteran patients throughout 23 parishes in southeast Louisiana.  Recently, the SLVHCS expanded the New Orleans community of clinics by opening an Urgent Care Center. Patients can now avoid long waits in the emergency room for minor illnesses or injuries and receive timely health care provided by VA professionals experienced in urgent care. If the patient's emergency does requires immediate attention they should dial 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room. Visits to Urgent Care do not replace regularly scheduled visits with Primary Care Providers.

The Big Easy! The Crescent City! Birthplace of Jazz! … New Orleans is known by any number of nicknames, but none can completely describe the city. Located at a bend in the Mississippi River in southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans is a city with several distinct neighborhoods. The most famous is the French Quarter - about 10 square blocks just north of the river. The buildings here were constructed over 200 years ago and all remain in reasonable condition. To walk through here is to walk through time - the streets are narrow and often damp, and with just a bit of imagination you can picture what life was like two centuries before. The food, the festival, the music are shared pleasures, because somehow a novel ethnicity, born of the New World, has emerged in New Orleans.  All of this  testifies to the remarkable power of the city's culture to absorb new influences and fashion delights that continue to amaze not only much of the world, but also the inhabitants of New Orleans themselves.
