Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is a 259-bed (soon to be 304) JCAHO-accredited acute care facility that is located in beautiful south central Kentucky. We recently completed a $55 million project that added a five story patient tower, 25 additional acute-care beds and the addition of a three-level parking garage attached to our hospital. Our construction included expansion areas for our Rehab Unit, Neurosciences Institute and Heart & Lung Institute. Over the past Five years, the hospital has experienced extraordinary growth in the areas of service expansion, renovation and technology purchases and upgrades.
In 2009 every area of the hospital will either be brand new or completely renovated!
We invested more than $47 million in facility and equipment capitol, including two new Cath labs, two new 1.5 telsa MRI’s, 64 Slice CT, Spiral CT, Digital Fluoroscopy, and additional telemetry beds. Our progressive stance has also resulted in the addition of more than 60 new physicians relocating to the Somerset in the past five years with the average physician exceeding their guaranteed income in less than 6 months.
New Additions in 2008 & 2009
Currently we are finishing the fourth floor of the new patient tower. We are building a Women’s Breast Clinic that will offer Digital Mammography; Wound Care Center (launches in May 2009) with two Hyperbaric Chambers; Developing a Certified Stroke Center, EP laboratory, and a Bariatric Center. These are just some of the many additions in 2008 & 2009.
