The Beautiful Southwest-Espanola Valley
BE/BC General Surgeon, full time position. Espanola Hospital, Espanola, New Mexico The Community: Espanola is a community located in beautiful northern New Mexico, just 25 miles north of Santa Fe, in the heart of the middle Rio Grande Valley. It lies between the 12,000 foot Jemez Mountains and the 13,000 foot Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east. The community's central location provides easy access to the diverse wonders of northern New Mexico. The community is home to a population of approximately 12,000 and provides ample recreational opportunities including downhill and cross country skiing (Taos, Santa Fe and Los Alamos ski areas within 40 minutes); nearby lakes (Abiquiu, Herron, Santa Cruz, and El Vado); and nearby camping and hiking, with easy access to National Forest lands and wilderness areas. We enjoy four distinct seasons, with blue skies and sunshine prominent through each. The Hospital: Espanola Hospital is a division of Presbyterian Healthcare Services, a New Mexico nonprofit corporation. More New Mexicans are served by Presbyterian through our health insurance, primary and acute care, long-term care, home care and rehabilitation than any other healthcare organization in New Mexico. The hospital is an 80 bed acute care facility, JCAHO accredited. In 1995, a multi-specialty clinic offering Family Practice, Surgery, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine and Pediatric services was opened under the auspices of the hospital. There are a total of 30 physicians on the active medical staff with varying specialties. In addition, the Espanola Urgent Care is staffed by masters-level Family Nurse Practitioners and offers an alternative to the emergency room in many situations. The Urgent Care Center is open 12 hours a day. The Emergency Room is open 24 hours a day and five employed ER physicians staff the department. The Practice: We are seeking a board eligible/certified General Surgeon to join our hospital.
