THE COMMUNITY

Additionally, the Memphis International Airport, only 78 miles to the south on U.S. 51, provides commercial air travel service.

A thriving community, Dyersburg combines the peace and quiet available in a small southern town
along with a progressive and community-minded attitude.

RECREATION
The terrain in and around Dyersburg, and west Tennessee in general, is composed of gently rolling land with picturesque hills and valleys. Dyersburg is a benefactor of the climate of the American South. Summertime is not limited by the calendar; swimming-degree days come in early to mid-May and last into October. Gardeners appreciate the long growing season, which stretches from late March into mid-November and consists of an average of 236 frost-free days. Spring comes earlier in the South bringing glorious greening to the abundance of foliage in Tennessee. Fall stays later, extending warm days and crisp nights, all with a backdrop of the colorful changing of the leaves. Winters are mild and relatively short with little or no snow. Precipitation comes mostly as rainfall, but a surprise cold snap could allow someone to awaken to an unexpected blanket of nighttime snowfall. With an abundance of lakes, rivers, and wildlife areas, Tennessee is the perfect home for outdoor enthusiasts. Dyersburg is perched at the door of Reelfoot Lake and Wildlife Refuge. Water sports, fishing and wildlife appreciation are popular forms of recreation in the area.
