The twin cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota were recently ranked #1 in the United States for overall quality of life by the Urban Institute of Washington D.C. Our residents are generally healthy, well-educated, and financially sound. In either city, you are just as likely to catch a play or a concert, as you are to hop into a canoe or onto a pair of cross-country skis. Whether you choose to live in the city or the suburbs, you will experience shorter commutes to work and enjoy the sense of community the Twin Cities offer.
Referred to as the "Brain Power State", Minnesota has a long-standing commitment to quality education. Our schools are ranked fifth in the nation, with great emphasis placed on computer-based education.
Minnesota is an outdoor paradise. There are over 949 lakes in the seven-county metro area and approximately 136,900 acres of land set aside for parks, trails, and wildlife management areas. Boasting 22 lakes within its city limits, the City of Minneapolis park system was recently named best in the country by the national Park and Recreation Association.
The Twin Cities area has a number of nationaly renowned art, music, and theater organization. Minneapolis and St. Paul are ranked second only to New York City in total theaters per capita including art galleries, museums and dance companies and are home to the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
The Twin Cities also host plenty of professional sports action. In downtown Minneapolis, the Minnesota Timberwolves play NBA basketball at the Target Center arena, while the Minnesota Vikings NFL football team and the Minnesota Twins American League baseball team hold home games in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. The Minnesota Wild, NHL hockey team, plays at the Xcel Energy Center, a first-class multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue located in the heart of downtown St. Paul.
