The capital of Idaho, Boise is located on Interstate 84, which connects it to other major areas, including Salt Lake City (336 miles southeast), Portland and Seattle to the northwest (432 and 517 miles, respectively) and San Francisco (652 miles southwest).

Known worldwide for its spectacular beauty, the state encompasses majestic mountain ranges towering over blue ribbon streams and rivers; rich forests, punctuated by clear, high-mountain lakes and the quiet beauty of high desert plains. The Boise area abounds with recreational resources, including nearly 69 parks covering 2,131 acres in and around the city. The BoiseRiver, which runs through downtown, attracts fly fishermen and rafters, and the 25-mile greenbelt along the river’s edge is perfect for biking, running and observing wildlife. In addition, the Bogus Basin Ski Area, just 16 miles from the city, offers the alpine skier and snowboarder a 1,800-foot vertical drop and 52 major runs.

AdaCounty is served by three public school districts and there are (at least 4 parochial elementary schools and one parochial high school, additionally there are private elementary and secondary schools). Higher education is available at several nearby colleges, including BoiseStateUniversity, the 2006 Champions of the Fiesta Bowl, University of Idaho Boise Center for Higher Education, NorthwestNazareneUniversity in Nampa and Albertson College of Idaho located in Caldwell.
