Palmyra Medical Centers, one of the premier healthcare facilities in southwest Georgia is located in Albany, Georgia, the regional medical hub with a population of 100,000. Palmyra Medical Center is a 248-bed medical center which is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The hospital has been a major employer in the area for over 30 years. Since opening its’ doors in 1971, Palmyra Medical Center has earned the reputation of excellence in care through the synthesis of the human touch and medical technology. Today, Palmyra has over 200 on-staff physicians, a medical support staff of more than 400 employees and nearly 100 volunteers.
Palmyra takes pride that it provides the community access to one of the premier emergency centers in the country. Conveniently located on the perimeter of Albany, the ER at Palmyra performs all of its services out of a single, centralized location. The Level II acute care emergency center is one of the largest and best equipped emergency centers in southwest Georgia and has an annual volume of 33,000 visits. Physicians utilize T-System for documentation.
