MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a Director for the Division of Neurosurgery with strong leadership skills to further develop neurosurgery in this very busy institution. The qualified candidate will be board certified through the American Board of Neurological Surgery and have several years of clinical experience beyond certification. Candidates should possess the ability to recruit, retain and mentor new physicians as well as provide direction for those that are currently a part of this vital group. This position provides an academic appointment at the Associate Professor and Professor Levels through Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine with rank to be determined by the candidate’s qualifications. Participation in instruction of residents will be important as well as program development and faculty recruitment.
The position requires an interest to perform the full scope of neurosurgery procedures, though opportunity to pursue a subspecialty is available. This position will allow for designated research. MetroHealth System is a busy, 715-bed academic medical center in western Cleveland with a 150 year history of excellence in teaching, research and patient care. There are more than 400 primary care and specialty physicians and over 80,000 emergency room visits annually. MetroHealth Medical Center is the only ACS-verified Level 1 Trauma Center in Cuyahoga County, and serves a population of 1.4 million. This is a key role within the Department of Surgery and collaboration with other departmental leaders will be important.
