The Los Angeles Medical Center is Kaiser Permanente's largest hospital and medical offices in the Southern California region. The 492-bed facility serves as a teritary care center for Southern California members, providing a broad range of services. More than 550 physicians and 4,500 support staff serve members at the Los Angeles Medical Center. Construction is currently under way on a new hospital, which is set to open in 2006.
Among the specialty programs at the Los Angeles Medical Center is the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, which was among the first in the country designed to perform outpatient catheterization. The lab is affiliated with research projects at Harvard University, University of Southern California (USC), and the National Institutes of Health. The Regional Radiation Oncology Center at the Los Angeles Medical Center is the largest radiation oncology center on the West Coast and has a comprehensive array of equipment and specialized techniques for internal and external radiation therapy. The Nephrology/Dialysis Program has received numerous awards for quality of patient care.As a teaching institution, the medical center has 19 residency programs involving more than 160 residents and fellows annually. Many of our programs enjoy a close affiliation with the University of California, Los Angeles, and USC.The medical center is centrally located in Hollywood with easy access to major freeways, nearby beach communities, and downtown Los Angeles. Such famous Los Angeles attractions as Griffith Park, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the Hollywood Bowl are just minutes away, as are the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Museum.
