At WVU Health Sciences Center Charleston Division, the delivery of quality health care is a major goal of our mission. While providing the best care for patients, it is also our goal to create an atmosphere that encourages teaching, learning and professional development. The Charleston Division clinical campus provides an educational setting for West Virginia University's medical, nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry students and we are dedicated to seeing that excellence is maintained in our many programs and the departments that support them.

We are fortunate to be a clinical campus of the larger Health Sciences Center institution in Morgantown, and to have the partnership of the Charleston Area Medical Center, our sponsoring / teaching hospital. CAMC not only partners with us in the areas of patient care and medical education, they also provide assistance in regard to our research effort to form a  network of excellence.

We are one of the oldest regional medical campuses in the United States.  Some 100 faculty and 400 clinical faculty provide training and educational oversight to more than 80 medical students and 150 residents.  The Charleston campus houses a fully staffed medical library with one of the largest clinical collections in West Virginia with computer index to the national library of medicine.  Charleston students and residents also benefit from a 7,000 foot simulation center featuring state-of-the-art sim-man and sim-baby simulators capable of a variety of crisis and assessment scenarios.
