The Department of Pediatrics at Lewis-Gale Physicians is searching for a BC/BE general pediatrician to join the group. Currently, the department consists of five pediatricians and one nurse practitioner providing the full range of pediatric services. While the majority of time is spent treating patients in the clinic setting, care is also provided for non-critically ill newborns and children at the adjoining Lewis-GaleMedicalCenter. Lewis-Gale Medical center is licensed for 521 beds and boasts state-of-the-art technology including a 64-slice CT and a 3T MRI. Installation of a permanent PET scanner is expected to be complete within a few months. Within the past few years, Lewis-Gale has constructed a new emergency department, surgical suite, oncology center, electrophysiology lab, interventional radiology lab and breast center with the area’s only digital mammography capabilities. Newborns are cared for in our Level 2 nursery, which is staffed by a team of outstanding nurses, all of whom are NRP certified. The pediatric inpatient services are provided on a unit which is currently shared with orthopedics and neurology patients. When a higher level of care is indicated, we have ready access to NICU and PICU services within minutes, and a skilled neonatal/pediatric transport team to transfer critically ill patients. In addition, many of the pediatric subspecialties are represented in the valley. The general pediatricians and the specialists in the area all work together in a collegial manner to provide excellent medical care to the children of the RoanokeValley and surrounding regions.
