Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa currently has an opening for a full time Internal Medicine Physician.  Applicants must be board certified or board eligible, possess a medical license by the State of Iowa, and have an active DEA license.

There are currently 3 physicians and 2 Nurse Practitioners on staff.  Providers follow their admitted patients at Decatur County Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital.  ER call coverage is shared with physicians and nurse practitioners, resulting in primary call coverage of 1 day per week.  Physicians will rotate secondary call; however the hospital employs an ER physician over the weekends. 

Excellent benefits and competitive salary.  Salary range is $145,000 to 155,000.  Benefits include: health insurance,  cafeteria benefit program, life insurance, malpractice insurance, sick leave and 3 weeks vacation, 401K savings plan, and CME allowance.

The Community Health Center of Southern Iowa is a not-for-profit organization that received Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that opened its doors April 1, 2005 with a federal grant.  CHCSI has two medical sites - one in Leon and another in Lamoni. 

Medical services offered by the CHCSI include:  Primary Care, Women's Services, Preventive Diagnostic and Treatment for Infants and Children, Laboratory and Radiology Procedures, Immunizations and Well-child exams, Clinical Screenings, Patient case management, Low Cost Prescription Drug Program, and a Diabetes Collaborative.  In addition to these services, as a Federally Qualified Health Center, patients of CHCSI have the advantage of a low cost drug program through government purchasing and in partnership with local pharmacies that will greatly reduce the cost of drugs.

The Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa pledges to operate a system of care that contributes to the desired outcomes of availability, accessibility, quality, comprehensiveness, and coordination of basic primary care services with other levels of care, and support services approriate to our patients' needs.  Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa will do everything possible to make sure services are available and accessible.  The centers will continue to have qualified providers and a clinical management system to ensure quality and continuity of care.  CHCSI focuses not only on improving the health of individual patients, but on improving the health status of the entire community.  Needs assessment, program develoopment, and evaluation are all framed in terms of both community health and patient health needs.

Besides primary care services, the Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa offers behavioral care. and has been authorized to provide tele-psychology.  CHCSI has three psychiatrists and several therapists and has expanded into substance abuse therapy. 

Decatur County Hospital has a variety of services and resources including:  acute care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, SNF, ER with 24 hour staffing, hospital based paramedic ambulance, radiology (including x-ray, ultrasound, CT, dedicated mammography, MRI), full rehab (including PT, OT, SLP), labatory, respiratory therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, pharmacy, orthopedics, urology, oncology/hematology, ENT, cardiology, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, and general surgery.

Decatur County is located in the heart of the south central Iowa.
