Family Practice Opportunity

The mission of the center is to provide affordable, comprehensive, culturally appropriate, cost effective care to the residents of greater southeastern Iowa region, especially those individuals with limited resources or with others barriers to health care in order to improve their overall health status. 

CHC/SEIA, established November 2001, became a federally funded community health center in September 2002 with five primary clinic sites in Iowa and Illinois.  CHC/SEIA services the residents of Des Moines, Henry, Lee and Louisa counties in Iowa and Hancock County in Illinois.  All CHC/SEIA's current six facilities are located in Health Professional Shortage and/or Medically Underserved Areas and all are located in rural areas within the resources available to the organization.  Primary health care services are offered to all individuals in the region with a specific emphasis on serving the low-income, underinsured, uninsured, Medicaid and Medicare populations.

CHCSEIA has an immediate need for a full-time Family Practice Physician or an Internal Medicine Physician (without OB) for their Hamilton, IL center.  Prefer bilingual - English and Spanish speeking.

Days/Hours of practice-M-F 8 to 5, (some evenings)

Hamilton, Illinois is located next to Mississippi River in Western Illinois.  Hamilton is a rural community that is only a few hours from Chicago and Kansas City.  The population of Hamilton is over 3,000 with the Hancock counties population totalling around 20,000. 

Hamilton partners closely with Keokuk, Iowa.  With a population of approximately 12,000, Keokuk, Iowa, which is located directly across the river from Hamiliton is one of Lee County's largest, majestic and naturally beautiful communities. Magnificent mansions ride steep wooded cliffs above the ingenious lock system and a hydroelectric plant on the Mississippi. Known as the "Gateway City" because of its ideal location for business and industry.

Keokuk has a public school system which includes four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, along with a private elementary school.  Keokuk is also home to a campus of Southeastern Community College (Iowa).

Music and theatre are enjoyed each summer in Keokuk.  The city is home to "Rollin' on the River," a local blues festival.  Every Saturday evening starting at 7:00 PM some of the best tri-state area all original bands perform at "Music at the Mall" at the River City Mall located at 300 Main Street.  Keokuk is also home to the Great River Players, a thespian troupe that strives "to provide quality amateur theatrical productions for the tri-state area by encouraging members of the surrounding communities to express their creative abilities in all aspects of live theatre.

Keokuk is a short drive south of Burlington, Iowa which serves a population of approximately 50,000 residents.  Great River Medical Center is a 378-bed regional, integrated health-care system is located in Burlington. The regional center includes state-of-the-art facilities for emergency treatment, acute care and outpatient services. It also is home to the area's first permanent dialysis center, full-service rehabilitation, cancer care centers, and helicopter-transport service.

Keokuk is located along the pristine shores of the Mississippi River. Illinois is just across the river. Missouri is a short drive downstream. Two hours north are the Iowa-Illinois Quad Cities; Chicago, St. Louis, and Des Moines are also easily accessible. Kansas City, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit and Memphis are unhurried one-day trips.
